Not too Busy to go Dress Shopping

I’ve been complaining recently of all the things I am busy doing… (teachers college apps, new job, volunteering, catching up with people) but I’ve left out one major, soon to be time consuming job.

My Very First Time Being A BRIDESMAID!!!!

That’s right!  When I was in Malaysia this summer I got a message from one of my best friends, Lilian Doss, that her significant other of eleven years, Brandon Allen proposed to her in France on their eleventh anniversary!!!

I am lucky enough to have been asked by Lili to be one of four bridesmaids.  I actually do feel pretty special considering all her other bridesmaids have known Lili and Brandon since they were in grade eight or nine.  I’m the newest addition and special enough to get one of the most honoured positions in a wedding party (or so i’m telling myself).

Then I realized that Katrina (BM #1) lives in Thailand and wouldn’t be around for all the Bridesmaid duties.  Then Corrinnne (BM#2) just moved to Montreal last week… and Kristen (BM#4) lives in Kingston.

Babooooooooong.

I started secretly googling the duties of a bridesmaid and information on planning a wedding.  FYI, weddings are not as easy as throwing together a kegger and sending out a facebook evite.  No siree, they take about two years to plan and thousands of dollars.  Dear friends who are planning on having me as a bridesmaid: Please hold off for a few years… I’m busy.

So today is BM (not bowel movement… bridesmaid) activity number one.  Lili believes she has found THE ONE (not Brandon…but a wedding dress) and I’m going to go take a look at it with her… and probably cry.

Normally I’m anti relationships and weddings and all that love crap, but I’m genuinely excited for Lilian and Brandon.  They have been together for so long (like, since they were two), have gone through good times and bad times, are so good together and their love for each other just beams off their face.  The way they look at each other is vomit inducing beautiful.  I love them.

But Lilian… please don’t pick a dress that makes me look fat ;) .

(and don’t worry… I don’t plan on dancing down the isle…. maaaybe…)

Looked at locations in toronto last night with Lilian. Booked solid for 2010 and 2011 is filling up fast… so YES it does take 2 years to plan a wedding.
and btw this video is the WORST… and my own personal NIGHTMARE.
